I'd like to follow up on this and change the topic slightly. I have a '75 Spitfire and would be interested in converting it to an OD transmission. I'd really like to reduce the revs when cruising at highway speeds. Can anyone "ballpark" the cost for me? I assume it involves a new transmission, and a new drive shaft, which are beyond my ability to do on my own. I'm in PA, so I wouldn't be adverse to driving the Spitfire down to VA to have the work done. Mothorhead had actually serviced it for the previous owner who lived in VA.
