Bad Parts

This page presents a list of available parts that are proving to be problematic.  Since Motorhead is a full service (nearly) shop and parts department we have the (almost) unique ability of testing how the parts we sell work and fit. Our parts department allows us to be thorough in our repairs.  Everything we sell or do is warranted for a year, so our shop helps test what we sell through our catalogs. While we try to sell original equipment parts, even OEM parts are proving to have defects.  Usually, in the case of reproduction parts, there is only one version of a repro and all British parts suppliers sell it. However, if there is more than one version of a reproduced part Motorhead will always provide the one that proves to be best.  The following is a list of Bad Parts. These are Bad Parts regardless of their source.

This reproduction is not properly hardened and fails after a few miles of use. When it fails it ruins other parts within the gearbox.

Manual Choke Conversion Manual choke conversion made for Zenith Stromberg's that originally came with the automatic water choke We do not recommend these as we feel that a properly maintained auto choke works best. If the choke is serviced as per workshop manual recommendations, it will work correctly.
New SU Carbs Various models Most new SU carbs need modification.  We recommend properly rebuilding your original carburettor(s).
Oil Flex Line  Oil pressure line from engine to oil gauge These repro lines have a steel sleeve but inside have a poor quality rubber hose which leaks. Within a few minutes, your motor could run dry. We make our own here.
