Motorhead engine run-in procedure

A renovated engine and its components should undergo a period of cautious use during which adjoining machined metal parts become accustomed to each other.

For the first 500 miles of use the engine should not be driven above 4000 revolutions per minute (4000 Rpm's) and that a service will be required at 500 miles to re-torque the cylinder head, adjust the valves, change the oil and filter and to check the progress of the run-in.

This "500 mile run-in service" is essential to help ensure that my engine rebuild has its best chance at a long and useful life. I understand that all warranties on my engine cannot be honored if I exceed 500 miles prior to this service.

The expense for the 500 mile run-in service is less than $200.

Be attentive to the fluid levels, engine oil pressure and engine temperature as outlined in the warranty.

The run-in procedure will help determine the useful lifetime of the involved components. By correctly matching engine Rpm and car Mph (to avoid lugging or over-revving) and by varying the Rpm, you help to improve the success of the run-in procedure.

A Motorhead Rebuilt engine with Warranty

Your engine will be repaired and serviced by Motorhead, at our expense for 1 year from the delivery date except as noted here:

Check your car's fluids often. you are responsible for maintaining fluid levels in your car. Fluids include engine oil, engine coolant, gearbox oil, differential oil, clutch hydraulic fluid and brake hydraulic fluid. Motorhead will repair the cause of fluid loss in your engine. Repairs needed as a result of loss of fluid are your responsibility. Motorhead is not responsible to perform repairs resulting from a loss of any of these fluids.

Watch your oil pressure gauge as you drive and stop your engine if the oil pressure drops below 10 pounds per square inch. Investigate the cause of such low oil pressure before starting your engine again. Motorhead will repair the cause of low oil pressure if it originates in your engine. you are responsible for any repairs needed as a result of low oil pressure. Motorhead is not responsible for any repair needed as a result of low oil pressure.

Watch your coolant temperature gauge as you drive and stop your engine if the coolant temperature reaches above 200 degrees F or if the needle points near H. Investigate the cause of such high coolant temperature if it originates in your engine. you are responsible for any repairs needed as a result of high coolant temperature. Motorhead is not responsible for any repair needed as a result of high coolant temperature.

Diagnosis of any symptom resulting from loss of fluid, low oil pressure or high coolant temperature is provided by Motorhead. Within these guidelines, installation is warranted if Motorhead installed the engine.
